The word “mono” comes from the Greek μόνος (mónos), meaning “single” or “independent”; at Monocity Gallery, we treat it as a metaphor for a single, unified metropolis-planet. Imagine Earth as a global, indivisible city, where every corner, every street, and every artist contribute to one vast urban fabric. Our aim is to connect these local micro-worlds – from murals in São Paulo, through installations in Berlin, to graphics in Tokyo – into one shared organism where street and contemporary art meet the everyday viewer, opening new perspectives and sources of inspiration. At Monocity, every artist is an ambassador of their metropolis, and every artwork is a symbol of solidarity and a shared narrative. Our mission is to bring communities together and promote intercultural dialogue.

Founded in 2022, Monocity Gallery redefines urban art as a multilayered, immersive dialogue between creator and viewer – regardless of generation, technique, or scale. Our previous pop-ups in post-industrial halls have allowed audiences to witness the creation process of murals, installations, sculptures, or performances, merging graffiti, street art, new media art, and traditional forms into a single, dynamic space. Each edition is more than just an exhibition – it is a meeting of disciplines and generations, a joint experiment with urban form and context. Our next step is to launch an artistic publishing house focused on producing prints, zines, and risographs by both emerging talents and well-established artists. This initiative aims to actively promote new art and support independent voices by building a platform for dialogue, experimentation, and artistic exchange.
